  The Aero Precision PRO 5.56 Bolt Carrier Group is built from the ground up to meet the demands of the most extreme conditions. Each component and manufacturing process of the PRO 5.56 Bolt Carrier Group was deliberately chosen to increase the reliable service life of the bolt carrier group and its components. BOLT The bolt is one of the most important parts of the bolt carrier group. Machined from 9310 steel, a proprietary flash nitride process was chosen to ensure proper heat treatment on the bolt. When properly heat treated, 9310 steel provides superior strength and durability when compared to C158. The cam pin channel is counter bored, eliminating the need for swaging. Swaging is the industry standard, however this process creates more stress on the bolt during manufacturing by displacing material rather than cutting it to the proper dimension from the start. Machined from 9310 steel Shot peened MPI tested Proper heat treatment ensured via proprietary flash-nitriding process CAM PIN Each PRO cam pin is precision ground after heat treatment to exacting specifications and given a nitride finish. The cam pin features an engraved indexing mark on one side of the cam pin face; a concept that has been popularized by Chad Albrecht at School of the American Rifle. Cam pins traditionally wear more heavily on one side and when installed inconsistently can create excessive wear over time. When the cam pin becomes “loose” this can create excessive wear on the bolt itself shortening overall life. The indexing mark allows for consistent installation during maintenance which in turn reduces wear on not only the cam pin but the bolt over time to help extend overall service life. MADE IN GERMANY Der Dynamic Arms Research Bolt Carrier von Dynamic Arms Research wird aus hochvergütetem 42CrMo4 Stahl hergestellt und verfügt über eine Tenifer –  QPQ – Oberflächenveredelung die ihn vor übermäßiger Reibung und Verschleiß schützt, zusätzlich ist er im vorderen Bereich vielfach feinkantig gefräßt um den Reibwiderstand zu reduzieren, der Verschluss arbeitet somit leichter und schneller. Gegenüber konventionellen Beschichtungsverfahren, wie brünieren oder phosphatieren, hat die Tenifer QPQ Oberflächenveredelung mehrere entscheidende Vorteile. Tenifer QPQ nitrieren ist keine Oberflächenbeschichtung im klassischen Sinn. Das Bauteil erfährt hier keine Maßänderung in Form von einem Auftrag. Es bildet sich in den Randschichten des Materials eine Verbindungsschicht, welche in das Metall hineinwächst. Dies hat zur Folge, dass sich nach der Bearbeitung die Toleranzen nicht verändern. Die Oberflächenhärte nimmt durch die Behandlung stark zu, zugleich ergibt sich eine hervorragende Verschleißfestigkeit und die Steifigkeit des Bauteils wird erhöht. Hochlegierte Werkzeugstähle können Oberflächenhärten von über 1.000 HV erreichen. Ebenfalls wird die Oberflächenrauigkeit reduziert und der Reibwert herabgesetzt.   When looking at lightweight bolt carrier groups, we were unsatisfied with what the market had to offer. Seeing a capability gap, we set out to create a bolt carrier group that could live up to the Gunner name with no compromise in strength or function. We set specifications that would allow no compromise: Lightest Weight Possible (8.5 Ounces Complete) MIL-SPEC Materials & Finishes or Better! Forward Assist Serrations Compatible with Dust Covers Maintains Full-Auto Trip Sear for full-auto and the new multi-stage trigger functionality Matching our barrels, we selected Salt Bath Nitride for all the carriers components. By coating all parts, the carrier's natural slickness is increased markedly requiring less gas and pressure to operate. Further, the Nitride process seals components against corrosion while making them fantastically wear resistant.  Improvements include using 9310 tool steel for the bolt, and nitriding the assembly to increase surface hardness, decrease resistance, and have superior corrosion resistance compared to typical chrome and phosphasted bolt carrier groups. All bolts are fully MPI tested to ensure the material is sound and without defects. Bolt lugs are chamfered 45 degrees to ensure reliable action for even the highest pressure hand loads and fast lightweight actions.  Faxon Bolt Carrier Groups are Superfinished to reduce friction, increase smoothness of operation, and reduce fouling. Further, they are full-Auto rated and maintain the trip for full-auto fire control groups and new multi-stage trigger systems.
