Remove spring pin (or roll pin) from the front of the trigger guard where it connects the existing magwell. 2. Swing the trigger guard down so that you have approximately 1/2″ of clearance below the magwell. 3. Slide the Lancer Adaptive Magwell (LAM) over the lower lip of the receiver until it stops, making sure that the rubber gasket is properly seated down in the front pocket of the LAM. (NOTE: The one-piece LAM comes with two styles of rubber gasket. You may want to test fit the magwell with both to determine which gasket style will work best for your particular receiver.) 4. Using a small screwdriver or the tip of a dummy round, depress the spring-loaded pin on the LAM and slide it the rest of the way onto the receiver until the spring-pin pops into place in the trigger guard pin hole. 5. Re-install the front of the trigger guard into the mounting location on the LAM. 6. Check to make sure the LAM is secure and perform a basic function test on the rifle prior to live-fire use. Their unique design inhibits even a single round of standard live ammunition from being loaded into the weapon, reducing accidental injury and providing a safer training environment for military and tactical law enforcement professionals. The job of a military service member or tactical law enforcement officer is difficult enough without having to worry about being injured during a routine training exercise. That concern, however, is well-founded based upon the frequency and severity of incidents that occur during simulated combat training. The majority of these injuries – and even deaths – are the result of live ammunition being accidentally introduced into the training environment. Until recently, training exercises involving blank ammunition or non-lethal marking ammunition still required the use of standard rifle magazines. These magazines can be easily mixed up with magazines containing live ammunition; the results of which can, and do, prove deadly.
