Used by Navy SEAL snipers, the McMillan G30LA TAC-338 is a sniper rifle chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum. The .338 round is designed to engage soft targets out to longer ranges than other cartridges such as the .300 Winmag.
The typical effective range of the TAC-338 is around 1600 meters but some extremely talented military marksmen have hit targets from over 2000 meters away with .338 rifles. The TAC-338 was the rifle used by famed Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle when he killed an insurgent in Iraq from a 2100 meters distance.
The McMillan TAC-338 is a heavy-barrel, bolt-action rifle based on the McMillan G30 long action. It features a tactical stock with adjustable cheek-plates. A rail system allows attachments such as night scopes to be mounted on the weapon. Other features include a free-floating match-grade barrel and an adjustable trigger pull.
