Our steel side rail quickly attaches to the VZ58 receiver’s existing hammer and trigger axis pin holes with our proprietary mounting pins. The "No-Mod" Solution The best location for optics on any firearm is above the mid to rear part of the receiver to achieve proper eye relief and perceived weight distribution. The VZ58 rifle's dust cover is inadequate as an attachment point for mounting optics; therefore, a side rail serves as the traditional attachment point for an optic mount. The traditional AK side rail is attached by drilling holes in the receiver and then using rivets or screws thru these holes to permanently attach the side rail. However, if one is not willing to permanently alter their AK’s receiver from factory condition, or there is trained gunsmith available, then our retro fit, “no-mod” side rail is the solution.  A bonus of our self-retaining mounting pin design is that the internal e-clips for the original axis pins are no longer needed. Easily Reversible The AK Master Mount™ VZ58 side rail kit attaches to the receivers via the existing hammer and trigger axis pin holes using our included proprietary mounting pins; therefore, no need to drill, tap, rivet, or use a gunsmith.  Since no permanent receiver modifications are made, our side rail can later be removed if desired to return the receiver to factory condition.  The side rail and mounting pins are made of steel.  The mounting pins are heat treated to hardness of Rockwell C 30.  The side rail weighs  ounces. Rock Solid, Parallel to the Barrel The AK Master Mount™ VZ58 side rail is low profile, rock solid, and parallel to the barrel to allow for use of our own AK Master Mount™ VZ58 optic mount or most of the other commercially available VZ58 compatible optic mounts. We have done the dimensional design work so that our VZ58 side rail's dovetail is similarly sized and placed as on the factory side rail.
